Doorstep Help in Holborn during Covid-19

Our Doorstep Scheme so far has enabled us to support 50 local older people with food delivery, prescription/medical supplies and help topping up energy metres. The service is to offer as much support as we can to those in our community who are self-isolating, shielding, or are unable to leave their house during the Covid-19 pandemic.  We have also been working together with local organisations and volunteers to help deliver the service.

Local recipient Thelma was delighted to receive her shopping from our Doorstep Help team this week and told us from her home whilst holding some of her delivered food provisions “thank you very much Millman Street Community Centre and all that you’ve done for us over the years”.

The scheme is led by Holborn Community Association’s staff who run Millman Street Community Centre, a daycare with a goal to encourage healthy living, bringing people together and providing intensive support for those with greater need.

Another member Patrick who lives locally told us “I’ve loved having the Milman Street Services. They have been as good as gold to me, they have been absolutely first class, they have been brilliant for me”.
