Ramadan Mubarak!

This Monday marked the 1st day of Ramadan, a month where Muslims all over the world fast for a period of 30 days – from sunrise until sunset.

It is a month of spirituality and a way to get closer to God by abstaining from food and water and also being more charitable by helping others as well as the poor and needy.

It is also a time where individuals engage in extra worship such as prayer and reading their holy book the Qu’ran. As muslims follow the lunar calendar, the sighting of the crescent moon marks the start and end of Ramadan.

The breaking of the fast is called Iftaar, this is done with dates and water and then a feast with lots of delicious food!

We wish everyone celebrating a wonderful Ramadan!
