Remembering Betty Pine

Rebecca Pine, known as Betty, has sadly passed away after a suspected infection caught in hospital.  Betty received support from our Doorstep Help scheme and also featured in our Community Response Appeal video.

Naomi Nehemen, our Community Link Worker had built up a special bond with Betty through the Doorstep Help Programme.  She shared with us her reflections on the time they spent together in 2020:

“Betty was one of a kind. Never in my wildest dreams did I think our friendship would blossom the way it did. There was never a dull moment when we were together – she always made sure that I knew that she became my ‘adoptive grandmother’. We were truly two peas in a pod. It filled my heart with so much glee knowing that I was able to help her in her time of need and relieve some of the sense of loneliness that I knew hurt her dearly. She was a firecracker with the warmest heart, and I will cherish every moment we had.”

The Camden New Journal wrote a fitting tribute about Betty, giving a glimpse of what a remarkable lady she was and the life she led in Holborn. Read the tribute here.  We send our condolences to her family and friends.
