Last term the Carers Art Group took on the challenge of creating 3D sculptures. On the 14th of February, 2023, we were able to have an inhouse exhibition showcasing their sculptures. The sessions encouraged participants to try new mediums, experiment and step out of their comfort zone to create something 3D – a first time for many. The sculptures ranged from dancing figures, flowers, rugby ball, trees, portraits, cake, cheetah, to abstract objects. In a supportive environment, participants found the whole process to be meaningful as they not only felt connected with others but also with themselves – discovering more about themselves and others in the group. As quoted by a participant “ The whole experience helps me to reveal myself and I feel energised. It’s a way of expressing my feelings and thoughts. I’ve really enjoyed the course”
