We provide a range of activities that enable those aged over 55 to stay in good health, keep active socially and physically, and remain independent for as long as possible.
There are more activities available as part of the over 60s project at Millman Street Resource Centre and other venues in the Holborn area. Priority is given to Camden residents and those from neighbouring boroughs.
The Over 55s project is currently funded by the Big Lottery Fund.
This class includes aerobic exercise, floor work and some weight training. It is specially tailored for older women and is run by Lyn Ashley, a very experienced teacher, who herself is a very active and inspirational over 55.
Perfect for beginners and all levels of fitness, line dancing is also great for improving memory skills. The teacher, Jean Leclerc, is an expert in many different dance styles which he cleverly incorporates in to the easy-to-learn routines making them varied and fun and with a great range of music too.
A great, fun way to keep fit. Beginners are always welcome and will find it easy to join in. The class is taught by Jean Leclerc who also runs the line dancing class. Many people attend both classes and participants are invited to bring a sandwich and enjoy lunch together between classes.
A self-run activity. New members are always welcome and for those who have never played before the group are happy to provide some coaching.
The Good Neighbour Scheme is an outreach project for housebound people over the age of 60. Anyone living in the Holborn electoral ward is eligible to join as a member.
